With Hollywood also taking note of Dandrige’s keen eye, he moved to the LA area in 1969, working on film projects for Jules Dassin, Elia Kazan, and others and serving as one of the first Fellows at the American Film Institute (AFI), soon winning a top prize for his film Pas Dex Deux (1970).
